How to determine if you have Imposter Syndrome
I coach women of color to harness their inner power and shatter the glass ceilings that threaten their progression. This month, we shatter imposter syndrome. Here are 10 ways it shows up in women of color. If you identify with three or more, you may be struggling with imposter syndrome.
1. Over-fixating on your appearance
2. Downplaying your identity
3. Second-guessing your brilliance
4. Hiding your expertise
5. Redirecting compliments
6. Doubting/dismissing your success
7. Over-preparing/over-explaining
8. Dwelling on mistakes
9. Obsessing over being found out
10. Telling people what they want to hear instead of the truth
Imposter syndrome generates FEAR and constant hiding. Racism and sexism further complicate it for women of color. We are here to help you overcome it. Our LinkedIn article includes details on each characteristic and a tool for overcoming it. Next week, we dive into more tools.
